Mayor UMP Mennecy (Essonne), Xavier Dugoin, announced his resignation last night in favor of his son Jean-Philippe Clement Dugoin , currently Assistant Finance during his wishes to the municipal staff, it was learned today from the majority and the opposition.
"The resignation (Xavier Dugoin) was filed this morning in the prefecture," said Jean-Philippe Clement Dugoin told AFP late Friday afternoon, confirming a report in Le Parisien. A city council meeting must be held Saturday, January 15 at 9 am, at which Jean-Philippe Clement Dugoin should be elected mayor.
"It's a collective decision taken by the 33 members of the list (...) on the basis of the program and the team on which we had committed (at the municipal campaign)" he added, stressing that it was not for her father a "decision to withdraw from politics."
